Eligibility
To be eligible for a School based Traineeship, you will be:
- An Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, New Zealand Citizen, or eligible Visa holder
- Currently in year 10, 11, 0r 12
- Not currently enrolled in a VETis funded qualification

How many hours will I work?
You’ll usually work one day a week (or the equivalent in shifts). Your school may authorise a partial or full release day on a week day for you to undertake work. You can also undertake additional shifts in the workplace.
Do I get paid while doing the traineeship?
Yes. You are an employee of the business and will be paid for the shifts you undertake.
Will this affect my school studies?
The school based traineeship will impact your timetable in some way. This could be a partial or full release day to work or undertake part of your studies during periods of school. Your school will assist in determining the structure of your school based traineeship with school subjects.
What happens when I finish my traineeship?
You’ll graduate with a nationally recognised qualification and real workplace experience. Many trainees are offered ongoing work or use the qualification to continue their career.
Who will support me during the program?
You’ll be supported by your school, your workplace supervisor, and your training organisation. Australian Vocational Academy will be your main contact throughout your course and deliver the qualification program to you. Australian Vocational Academy is a Registered Training Organisation (Similar to a TAFE)
