School based traineeships are structured training programs designed for high school students in Years 10, 11 and 12, allowing them to blend their studies with part-time paid work and formal training. The Minimum age for School Based Traineeships is 15 years of age.
What happens if a student leaves employment during a school based traineeship?
Where a student leaves employment prior to completing their course and does not have an alternative workplace to transfer the traineeship, the traineeship contract is cancelled and the student is withdrawn from their studies with AVA.
How many hours do students need to work over their school based traineeship?

Is the student eligible for QCE points for completing a school based traineeship?
Queensland Industry Liaison Officers can assist with QCE point enquiries. Our courses are QCE eligible programs
What occurs if a student doesn’t finish their course or required workplace hours by the end of year 12?
Students who don’t complete their working hours by the end of year 12 are required to transition to a 15+ hour per week traineeship in the subsequent year until the course is completed.
