If your pharmacy employs junior staff, there’s an excellent opportunity to support their growth while benefiting your business: enrolling them into a School-Based Traineeship (SAT) for the SIR30116 Certificate III in Community Pharmacy.
This nationally recognised qualification allows Year 10 or 11 students to work part-time in your pharmacy while undertaking their Pharmacy course with our College, ultimately strengthening your team and contributing to the future of the industry.
Why Offer a School-Based Traineeship?
School-based traineeships are a practical way for young people to gain real-world experience and a qualification while finishing high school. For pharmacies, this creates an opportunity to:

Who Is Eligible?
To enrol an existing junior team member into a school-based traineeship, a few conditions must be met:
- The staff member will be in 16 years of age and commence in year 10 or 11
- They will be employed on a part-time basis (not casual)
- They will work a minimum of 7.5 hours per week on average
- They will complete at least 750 hours of work in total over the course of the traineeship
- Their school would approve the traineeship as part of their learning plan
Year 12 team members can register but continues as Standard Traineeship for until the course completes, the year after they finish school. A small employer contribution fee is required if students continue after high school.
