Maintain Imprest Stock (Hospital Pharmacy)
Overview
The Maintain Pharmaceutical Imprest Stock course is ideal for individuals working in, or entering, a hospital pharmacy environment. It provides the essential skills and knowledge required to monitor, replenish, select, dispatch and document imprest stock safely and accurately within clinical settings. This unit supports hospital pharmacy assistants and technicians in meeting workplace expectations for stock control, medication storage, cold chain maintenance and accurate record-keeping under the supervision of an authorised person.
Training Overview
Course Delivery
This course is completed online alongside paid employment in a hospital pharmacy setting. The program contains learning and assessment including simulated performance activities as well as a checklist for a supervising Pharmacist to complete. Students are provided with 60 days access to the portal to complete the required training and assessment. Course extensions are available at $50 per four week period. Typical timeframe for course completion is 15-20 hours. Please note, this unit of competency requires 240 hours of work related to hospital or health services pharmacy support in a clinical workplace environment.
Training
Training for this course is completed by:
- Reviewing and engaging in our Learner Guide that contains detailed readings and videos.
- Completing the learning log. This log supports you confirm you have developed the knowledge and skills before undertaking assessment.
Assessment
Assessment for this course is completed by:
- The completion of written short answer questions and checklists
- The completion of your learning log
- The completion of a supervisor report completed by a supervising Pharmacist
- Completing our simulated performance activities in the portal
- An observation by our assessors in your workplace (in person or via zoom)
Online Portal
All course resources are provided in our Axcelerate portal. Our course is 100% paperless providing you with 24/7 access to course content. Students undertaking this course will be able to use a computer and various internet programs without assistance.
Entry Requirements
Entry into this qualification is available for individuals:
- Who are an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, New Zealand citizen or eligible visa holder
- Able to read and write in English
- Have the technical skills and equipment to undertake our programs
- 16 years of age or older (parent or guardian consent is required for under 18)
- Working in an Australian hospital pharmacy
